What Is Client-Centred Hypnosis?

Client-Centred Hypnosis empowers the client because they maintain control of the healing change in their subconscious mind rather than giving away power to someone else to implant "the magic bullet" in the form of suggestions. As the client examines their "inner conflict", they discover the best resolution through a process of answering "guiding questions" asked by the Hypnotherapist.

Typically, Therapist-Centred (or directed) Hypnosis, is the protocol most commonly taught by schools in Canada. The Therapist-Directed approach requires less training because the hypnotist determines what they believe is the best solution for the client. Often the hypnotist simply uses a canned script which "fits" the client's concerns, focusing on removal of symptoms (the catalyst to have a client seek therapy). Generally, this process helps some people some of the time, but often leaves much (including the cause) untouched.

Client-Centred Hypnosis most commonly employs advanced techniques such as "Parts Meditation Therapy", "Inner Child Release Therapy" and other methods of Analytical Hypnosis, which focuses on finding the origin of the "inner conflict" and assisting the client in changing their subconscious perception of the issues and events. The Client-Centred protocol, as taught by the CrossRoads Training Institute, also employs the skills founded on the Skilled Helping Relationship, techniques which can only be taught by a trained psychotherapist.
